The
founding of the United States is Inspired by Colonial Williamsburg, actor/scholars Michael and Renee Oakes draw from letters, diaries, and documents to portray a wide array of colonial characters including slaves, indentured servants, women, children, statesmen, and soldiers on both sides of the War for Independence. The audience sings along and participates in the performance. With a focus on diversity in early America, these moving and entertaining quotes, anecdotes and songs weave an edu-taining colonial quilt. A 1-hour pre-show rehearsal workshop for 20 students is included for school shows. A useful Study Guide is also included for school shows. |
