Our goal at Live Oakes is to enhance self-esteem and self-expression through fun, collaborative theater. We are committed to nurturing the creativity of all our students, and affording every child the opportunity to shine. Our two-week day camp runs M-F, 9a.m.–3p.m. Mornings are devoted to fun skill-building classes in theater games, acting, singing, improv, stage combat, speech, and yoga. Afternoons are dedicated to rehearsing a one-act play which is performed for family and friends on the final day of camp.
Camp Directors Michael and Renee Oakes perform and teach throughout the Bay Area and are popular Artists in Residence in schools. They’ve written curriculum, taught, managed, and directed youth drama programs for the San Francisco and Marin Shakespeare Festivals, Vector Theater Co., Marin Theater Co., Kids on Camera, YES, Kiddo, Novato Parks and Rec., and Solano Community College. Michael Oakes trained at A.C.T. and is a union actor, professional director and acting teacher with over 20 years of experience. Renee Oakes is a professional classical soprano, musical director and a leading North Bay actress. We’ve earned a reputation as inspiring teachers dedicated to the growth of every child.
